Artisans D’Angkor Silk Farm is on the same road as Cambana D’Angkor Suites Hotel, but 7km further out of town. It is a lovely place to visit for a morning. The well-trained guides take you on a guided tour of the process of making silk – from the silk worm itself to the complex weaving process. The Silk Farm has it’s own weaving team who make beautiful products on site – you can walk around the looms and talk to the staff with the help of the guide. Finally, there is a shop for you to buy the products – knowing that these products are handmade in Cambodia. In addition, Artisans D’Angkor is a cooperative business model so staff have a part ownership in the company.

The Landmine Museum in Siem Reap is a crucial place to visit if you are interested in the recent history of Cambodia. The museum was founded by Aki Ra – a former Cambodian child soldier who, after the end of the conflict in Cambodia, began finding and detonating the very explosives he had spent much of his early life laying. The museum is located on the way to Banteay Srei temple. The Landmine Museum tells the story of landmines in Cambodia, how they have impacted the country’s past, present and will continue to impact its future.

Of all the places to visit in Siem Reap, Phnom Krom is perhaps the hidden gem, that few tourists known about. It is a small hill on the outskirts of Siem Reap, just by the Tonle Sap lake. On the top of the hill is a small Angkorian ruin, but the real attraction of the spot is that is provides a beautiful view of the Tonle Sap and surrounding rice fields at sunset. Phnom Krom is about an hour’s tuk tuk ride from Cambana D’Angkor Suites, but our personalized tuk tuk service will be on hand to take you there, wait for you at the bottom of the hill, and then drop you off at the hotel or your dinner destination.
